“How will we live together?” is the title of the International Architecture Exhibition organized by the Biennale di Venezia and will be open to the public for six months, from 22 May to 21 November 2021. The Art Director of the event is Hashim Sarkis, a world-renowned Lebanese architect but also a lecturer, researcher and author of various books on the history and theory of modern architecture.
Program
Articulated between the Central Pavilion at the Giardini (the Gardens of the Biennale), the Arsenale and Forte Marghera, the exhibition includes not only the 113 participants in the competition, from 46 countries, but also out-of-competition research by university researchers from all over the world. 5 large installations organized in the outdoor spaces and finally, in Forte Marghera 5 architects and a photographer give life to a project dedicated to play called “How will we play together?”.
The programme is complemented by conferences, meetings and discussions with architects, scholars and professionals in the sector who will answer the question "How will we live together?"
Moreover, three weekends will be organized for six events between October and November, where each meeting will discuss recurring topics in the participants' projects, such as the new challenges that climate change poses to architecture; the role of public space in recent urban riots; new reconstruction techniques; the changing forms of collective housing, among the others.
The International Architecture Exhibition will be further enriched by 16 collateral events located in numerous venues throughout the city of Venice.
