(the hotel industry sector), GDO (Large-Scale Organised Distribution: the modern retail system through supermarket chains and other intermediari
Characteristics and numbers of the event
The event aims to bring together the two souls of the market: made in Italy producers and professionals in the Retail and Foodservice channel.
From 2020 the exhibition will be held annually instead of every two years. During the four days of the exhibition, you can find an accurate offer of food made in Italy products as well as a series of events, conventions and round tables to take stock of the most important issues concerning the Italian agri-food sector and to analyse the latest market trends.
Here are the numbers of Cibus: the 19th edition counted 135,000 square meters of exhibition space, 3,100 food companies of Made in Italy excellence and 82,000 visitors, 20% of whom from foreign countries.
Although last year the exhibition was cancelled due to the serious global health situation, the dialogue with foreign buyers has always been kept alive thanks to the B2B platform My Business Cibus, the webinars of Cibus Lab and the participation of Cibus in other international events. According to ISTAT (National Institute of Statistics) data, the year that has just begun bodes well for a recovery in agri-food exports and therefore a substantial influx of international buyers.
The 2021 edition
The 2021 edition will also be an opportunity to analyse how the pandemic has brought about major changes in both production and consumption, issues that will be addressed at the Cibus Forum in line with what began the previous year. Also important is the collaboration with Bellavita Expo, the main trade show aimed at promoting Italian Food & Beverage in the world.
