Better than Paris and Berlin. A recent survey by EasyJet names Rome the preferred travel destinations for Brits for the Christmas break.

The Colosseum defeats the Eiffel Tower.

This is the result of the Christmas survey shared by the low cost airline EasyJet naming Rome as the favorite destination for British tourists for Christmas 2022.

Rome is ahead of other European capitals such as Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and Reykjavik.

The English tabloid Mirror reported the news, revealing that the two thousand Britons interviewed in the survey would love to spend Christmas festivities in Rome to enjoy world-renowned cuisine, a romantic atmosphere and explore the antiquities.

We certainly cannot blame the British tabloid.

In fact, Rome offers an almost unrivalled variety of restaurants, museums, Christmas markets (like the one in Piazza Navona) and historical sites to visit.

It’s enough to fill the wish list of tourists from all over the world.

The symbol of the Roman Empire

The Arena symbol of the Empire

A symbol of Rome in the world.

The Colosseum, or Flavian Amphitheater, is the most visited monument in Italy and one of Rome’s must-see attractions.

Gladiators and exotic wild beasts stepped on the sand of this arena fighting each other to death, putting up a show to entertain the people and the elite of ancient Rome.

But this majestic amphitheater was also used in the past for re-enactments of epic naval battles, public events and theatrical dramas: a real entertainment center that could accommodate up to 87,000 spectators.

Over the course of its two thousand years of history, the Colosseum has changed its function several times, while always remaining the main iconic landmark of the city.

The stunning and melancholic beauty of the 80 travertine arches hides the history and secrets of the largest amphitheater in the Roman world.

There is too much to discover and only a knowledgeable guide can satisfy all the curiosities of the visitors.
