Or hiking trails, such as the Poststeig, the post path, the trail leading to the Resciesa Hut or the route from Ortisei to Pic - all easily accessible low-altitude trails -, that wind through fragrant woods and imposing peaks that invite you to conquer them.

And also: majestic emerald specks, such as that of the alpine lake Lech de Ciampedel in Vallunga, which gradually return to their original liquid form - even if only for a short time -, from which you see them emerge, Occasionally, the tops of some trees.

But the Val Gardena is not only nature. It is also culture, secular traditions and a warm welcome that will make you feel as welcome as if you were at home. 9. Imperia, the city of olive oil

easter-holidays-in-italy-2025

Ligurian city born in 1923 from the forced union of two historic villages - Oneglia and Porto Maurizio -, Imperia still maintains a double soul that is reflected not only in the traditions, but also in the dialects spoken by its warm inhabitants and even in its urban layout.

Spring offers an unrepeatable opportunity to explore this charming city which, thanks to its particularly mild and welcoming climate, is the perfect destination for all lovers of outdoor activities.

The old town center of Porto Maurizio shows off, in this season, in its greatest splendor, with the characteristic caruggi of Parasio dotted by colorful flowerpots that the inhabitants take care of in n almost maniacal way.

The lovers' walk, a romantic and scenic pedestrian path lasting about ten minutes, which connects Borgo Foce to Borgo Marina, offers the possibility to lose yourself in sight of one of the most beautiful seas in Italy surrounded by the colors and scents of lush bushes of myrtle, lavender and rosemary. When the sea is calm and clear, then, it is also possible to see the typical rocks of the low Ligurian seabed , also known as 'ratteghe'.

The panoramic loggias of the monastery of Santa Chiara, which connect the plexus to the ancient city walls, offer a breathtaking view on the Riviera dei Fiori.

The flat part of Oneglia, on the other hand, invites you to discover its historical buildings and the porticoes of Piedmontese influence, together with the birthplace of Edmondo De Amicis and the civic library "Leonardo Lagorio".

For those who love food and wine, first Italian, then Ligurian, a visit to the Carlo Carli Olive Museum is what you need to rediscover the thousand-year history of local olive growing, ending with a lunch or dinner in the characteristic restaurants of Calata Cuneo.

8. Manarola, the city of wine and house-towers

easter-holidays-in-italy-2025

Let’s move, now, along the Ligurian coast towards the east to reach Manarola, an enchanting seaside village that stands on a steep promontory that dips into the Ligurian Sea, characterized by its typical house-towers with bright colors that seem to arise directly from the rock.

In spring, the village, with its terraced vineyards that are back to life and are considered a bright green, blackish, reacquires a charm that has almost fairy tale, in revealing this dazzling contrast between the green of the vegetation and the blue of the sea.

This is the ideal time to walk, for example, the famous Sentiero Azzurro, which connects Manarola to Corniglia and Riomaggiore through the famous Via dell'Amore - we'd warmly recommend you check whether it's open or not - or, rather, to explore the many paths that climb amongst the vineyards, where they produce the grapes used in the production of the renowned Cinque Terre DOC wine.

The mild spring climate also makes particularly pleasant walks among the delightful Ligurian village streets. A visit to the church of San Lorenzo, in Riomaggiore, built in the fourteenth century and home to two works attributed to the famous and mysterious master of the Cinque Terre, is almost a must, as well as one or more stops in the characteristic places where you can taste local specialties such as Monterosso anchovies and pesto alla genovese.

Why not take advantage of the warm spring embrace to discover the ancient agricultural traditions of the territory of Manarola, with its characteristic terraces supported by kilometers of dry stone walls that have become UNESCO heritage. During this season, in fact, it is possible to observe the winegrowers at work in the vineyards, still using the traditional monorails, small trains that allow you to transport the grapes up and down the steep hills.

Or, rather, for a quiet walk to the natural marina of Manarola, one of the most beautiful and picturesque of the Cinque Terre, which already this season begins to animate by the presence of boats of local fishermen, that glide in the turquoise waters of the Ligurian Sea and pull up the fish that you will be able to enjoy, maybe, in a restaurant with sea view, enjoying the local wines and admiring one of the most spectacular sunsets of Liguria, when the sun tinges pink and gold the characteristic house-towers that have made Manarola famous all over the world.

7. Spello, the village of flowers

easter-holidays-in-italy-2025

Our journey to discover some of the most beautiful destinations where you can spend your Easter holidays in Italy in 2025 continues to Spello, a charming medieval village that stands on the slopes of Mount Subasio, in Umbria, which, in spring, It becomes a real garden of wonders, because of the delicious tradition to decorate the alleys and balconies of the village with a carnival of colorful flowers in preparation for the famous event of the 'Infiorate del Corpus Domini'. Tradition, this one, which, to our immense fortune, still today its inhabitants observe with the same rigor and participation of a time.

This time of year is therefore the most suitable to explore the village of Spello, with its perfectly preserved Roman walls, its churches overflowing with artistic treasures such as the Baglioni Chapel in the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, frescoed by Pinturicchio, and its characteristic medieval alleys in pink stone that wind between tower houses and noble palaces.

The spring light also enhances and corroborates the beauty of the pink stone of Subasio with which much of the village was built; in contrast, for example, with the white travertine of Porta Venere and the white stone blocks of Subasio di Porta Consolare, witnesses of the city’s thousand-year history.

For lovers of nature and food and wine, a visit to the countryside surrounding the village, which in this period are tinged with red poppies and yellow brooms, is a must if you are looking for an experience among the most authentic of those we feel the need to suggest for this itinerary, in this particular time of year.

Walking along the Roman aqueduct, or going up to the ancient church of San Severo, you will be able to look at the green sea of the centuries-old olive groves from whose fruits one of the most famous extra virgin olive oils in all of Umbria is produced.

Restaurants and taverns, finally, await your return to offer you the opportunity to taste local dishes such as strangozzi with black truffle and lamb a-la-spellana.

6. Bagno Vignoni, Val d'Orcia's little gem

easter-holidays-in-italy-2025

Our journey continues to the discovery of Bagno Vignoni, a real jewel nestled in the beating heart of the Val d'Orcia, a vast and breathable green lung that is located in the province of Siena, on the borders of the province of Grosseto, which takes its name from the river that crosses it, the Orcia, which is a left-hand tributary of the Ombrone, of which it is the largest tributary after the Merse.

What makes the village of Bagno Vignoni one of those places to visit at least once in your life is certainly the Renaissance bath, 49 meters long and 29 wide, full of thermal waters that flow at a temperature of about 52°C, located in the center of Piazza delle Sorgenti. Built in 1500, it is surrounded by Renaissance buildings and the wonderful loggia of Santa Caterina da Siena, which give the square a distinct air, elegant, out of space and time, able to attract the attention not only of pilgrims engaged in the journey of the Via Francigena, but also of illustrious personalities such as, precisely, Santa Caterina da Siena, Pope Pius II and Lorenzo de' Medici.

The mild spring temperatures also invite you to discover the treasures contained in some of the town’s historic buildings, including Palazzo Piccolomini and the Church of San Giovanni Battista.

The Mill Park of Bagno Vignoni, finally, is a must for anyone visiting the Val d'Orcia. Located just below the main village, in addition to hosting the pools of thermal water, it is also home to four water mills that can be dated to the thirteenth century

5. San Gimignano, the village of the thirtheen towers

easter-eggs-in-italy-2025

The foundation of San Gimignano is lost in the voluptuous folds of the fabric of time.

Legend tells that two brothers, Muzio and Silvio, young patricians fled from Rome because allegedly accomplices of Catilina, took refuge in Val d'Elsa in 63 B.C. and there built two castles: the one of Mucchio and that of Silvia, future San Gimignano.

However, it was only in August 929 that a first official document appeared bearing the name of the city. Document attesting the donation, by Ugo di Provenza, to the bishop of Volterra of the mountain called Tower 'prope Sancto Geminiano'.

From any point you look at it, San Gimignano impresses with the grandeur and magnificence of its walls and towers; thirteen, in fact, of the original seventy-two are the towers that survived the breakup of which were the unfortunate object of interest in the second half of the '300, The period during which the city was ceded to Florence and the black plague and famine began to inflict the first severe blows on the Tuscan capital and beyond.

Nevertheless, today, the village of San Gimignano, perhaps also thanks to that social, economic and political decline that interested it at the turn of the fourteenth century and that, in one way or another, helped the city to crystallize that medieval look that so distinguishes it, It is worth to be counted as those destinations to keep in high regard if you can decide to enjoy the perfect symbiosis between nature and architecture typical of Tuscany and many other regions of Italy.

If we wanted to remove the outer layers of this medieval paved mahogany, we would realize that San Gimignano is not just walls and towers. Just think of the wonderful frescoes by Ghirlandaio in the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta or, rather, those of the Town Hall, where the 'cycle of the Majesty' of Lippo Memmi is revealed in all its beauty.

And again, to the delicate effluves coming from shops, wine bars and outdoor cafes, a powerful charm that is difficult to resist.

Ancient churches and farmhouses await you, then, in the surrounding countryside, which will be possible for you to admire, comforted by a good glass of Vernacchia DOP and a traditional cold cuts board from the terrace of the Rocca di Montestaffoli

4. San Benedetto del Tronto, fishing and sea town

easter-holidays-in-italy-2025

With the arrival of Easter, and, with it, of spring, as much of a natural consequence, San Benedetto del Tronto begins to wake up from winter torpor just so to reveal itself to the world in all its saline beauty.

For lovers of outdoor activities, a walk along the seafront, perhaps by bike thanks to the convenient cycle path, is an experience not to be missed. The beach, although not yet ideal for a swim, offers an unparalleled place to relax, while the Sentina Nature Reserve gives a unique experience in close contact with local fauna and flora.

Not only nature, but also history and culture beautify this delightful town on the Marche Riviera. The Sea Museum, in its different sections, tells about the maritime tradition of the city; while the Tower offers a breathtaking panoramic view. The old town, with its narrow streets and the Church of San Benedetto Martire, is a real alcove of hidden treasures.

Spring is also synonymous with events and demonstrations. The FAI Spring Days open the doors of places usually inaccessible, while the spring markets offer the opportunity to touch the local crafts and taste the typical products.

And speaking of typical products, the local gastronomy is another reason to visit San Benedetto in spring. The Sambenedettese brodetto, a unique fish soup, is a must for every gourmet.

3. Iglesias, the mine city

easter-holidays-in-italy-2025

Among the reasons that make Iglesias worthy of being included in this list are certainly the rites that animate the Holy Week - or 'Sa Chida Santa' - for 'its entire duration.

The processions, also known as 'Is Misterius', represent one of the most perfect mixtures between sacred and profane, and constitute a vivid legacy of that Christianity that Spain, first, transplanted in the island and that, for over four hundred years, Sardinians guard it jealously, enriching it of course with their own personal contribution which varies from area to area.

The rituals of 'Sa Chida Santa' are flanked by real natural treasures, such as the 'Geomining Historical and Environmental Park of Sardinia', and artificial ones, such as Porto Flavia, a masterpiece of industrial archaeology belonging to the complex of the Masua mining area set in the rock overlooking the sea, or the Great Serbariu Mine, now transformed into a museum.

2. Procida, the island of soul

easter-holidays-in-italy-2025

Procida in spring is an explosion of colours and scents that enchants visitors with its unfiltered beauty and relaxed pace of life. The mild temperatures and warm sunshine make this season perfect for exploring the island in all its magnificence.

A leisurely stroll along the seafront is just what it takes to start your own time on the island at its best: an unrepeatable opportunity to admire the typical pastel-colored houses of the village of Corriccella reflected in the clear water surface of the Gulf of Naples.

The beach of Chiaia, accessible through a panoramic path, invites you to relax and enjoy the first rays of sun after the gray abulia of winter. The beach of Pozzo Vecchio, renamed later in Spiaggia del Postino - because there was shot a famous scene from the 1994 film 'Il postino', directed by Michael Radford - just 20 minutes walk from the center of the village, It throws into what we could easily call the most beautiful waters of the island. The Flora Garden, with its rich collection of Mediterranean and tropical plants, is an oasis of peace and tranquility. The Belvedere di Santa Margherita is the ideal place to enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire island.

The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, with its works of art and the evocative crypt, is a testimony to the history and devotion of the island. And to get to know the seafaring tradition of Procida, the Sea Museum is a must see.

The lemons of Procida, fragrant and juicy, are a real local treasure, used to prepare liqueurs, cakes and other culinary delicacies. Fresh fish, the protagonist of Portuguese cuisine, is an explosion of flavors that delights the palate. And during the Easter period, traditional desserts such as pastiera and casatiello are an opportunity to discover the culinary traditions of the island.

1. Noto, the pearl of the sicilian baroque

easter-holidays-in-italy-2025

Spring in Noto reveals itself to the world as a season full of charm and magic, qualities certainly fueled by the Mediterranean climate, which offers ideal temperatures to explore this pearl of the Sicilian baroque.

Although it does not fall exactly in the vicinity of Easter for this year, the best time to visit the village is in May, when the famous 'Infiorata', one of the most anticipated events of the year, takes place in Via Nicolaci, one of the most beautiful streets of the city, which turns into an extraordinary open-air art gallery with elaborate floral compositions that create true works of floral art.

Nevertheless, the mild spring temperature makes it particularly pleasant to walk along the city’s quiet paths. Entering Corso Vittorio Emanuele, for example, you can come across magnificent palaces and baroque churches that shine under the warm Sicilian sun thanks to the characteristic golden limestone with which they were built.

If you want to venture outside the architectural barriers of the city, the surrounding countryside certainly offers interesting ideas for spending time in direct contact with nature of the largest of the Italian islands. A possible option could be an excursion to the Vendicari Nature Reserve, during which you can also enjoy a short swim in one of the picturesque coves that distinguish it.

On the other hand, booking a stay or an experience tasting in one of the delicious historic masserie of the area could be an interesting alternative for all those who would like to know more, perhaps about the production of extra-virgin olive of the Iblei Mountains PGI, for example; or, rather, the renowned tomato of Pachino PGI and, again, the famous almond of Noto
