Alberobello, a UNESCO heritage site, is the perfect destination for families looking for a fairy-tale atmosphere and in the spirit of outdoor excursions such as old farms offering a rich local fauna and flora. Apulia’s culinary specialities are also worth tasting, like orecchiette and Puccia, the most renown local dishes.
Your kids will love to enter and discover Trulli's history and the curious cottages with domed roofs that look like they come out of a cartoon.
If you want to have a picnic and go to the playground, the perfect place is Bosco Selva, a wood just 2 kilometres from the historic centre. This small green space counts many natural paths and a picnic area.

Vico Equense is the first location in Sorrento Coast. It is rich in breath-taking landscapes, wherein its fauna and flora you can have many experiences. It represents a perfect destination for a family holiday.
Besides its wonderful beaches, if you are looking for greenery and nature, the best place is Faito Mount. This famous mountain has a fantastic landscape. You can easily reach it by cableway from Castellammare di Stabia's station in 8 minutes. At the top, you can walk among ancient beech trees, on the paths, or rest at one of the many picnic areas. The rich flora counts chestnut trees (unusual at this altitude), beech trees and Neapolitan alders.
In Vico Equense, with your kids, you can't resist tasting pizza and ice cream, two territorial excellencies. It is in Vico that the famous "pizza a metro" was invented: children can even attend funny workshops to make pizza.

3. Valdaora in Trentino-Alto Adige
Valdaora is the perfect destination for families looking for fresh and clean air and a holiday in nature. There are attractions and activities for the family in the spirit of the first discovery and adventures.
Mondo Bimbi is the perfect place for you if you are looking for an adventure with your kids. It is a free park that opens every day and extends over several hectares. Here kids and adults can test their abilities.
In Valdaora, there is Val Pusteria, a 25 km cycle route. You don't need to be a professional to cycle across it. There are several cycling routes adapted for families and multiple places where you can rent bikes.

Don't miss taking a walk in its historic centre where you will be able to discover many curiosities about its monuments. A favourite fact is for example the Lions Fountain, which has now become the dogs' fountain because many of our four-legged friends like to drink there.
It’s not all about culture but food too! After your walk in the city centre, go to have your family break with the creamy maritozzo and taste the typical Ascolana olives.
For an outdoor excursion, you can reach San Marco in 15 minutes by car, where you can horse-ride in the woods. Alternatively, San Benedetto is perfect for swimming and enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches.
5. Lido di Venezia in Veneto
Venice counts many charming activities suitable for children: beautiful walks, bike rides and discovering the WWF oasis. Lido di Venezia is easily accessible from Venice by public and private steamboats.
The island is equipped with beaches of gold sand, shallow water and typical huts that let you experience swimming differently. The cabins are a characteristic of Lido's beach: since the beginning of swimming tourism in the 19th century, they have evolved over the years, allowing you to enjoy the beach in comfort.

In Porto San Giorgio, there are large equipped beaches with spaces dedicated to the kids, such as playgrounds. You can have long walks and make sandy castles on the seashore and every Lido has a playground, a bar and often a restaurant too. The shallow water and detached rocks keep out seaweed and waves.
8. Bellaria Igea Marina in Emilia-Romagna
Bellaria Igea Marina has a large sandy and safe beach, perfect for the little ones. This destination is awarded Blue and Green Flags for the quality of its sea and family-friendly services (certified by Italian paediatricians). The location is in the centre of Romagna Riviera, not far from Rimini and Ravenna and the most famous theme parks in Romagna.
Your children will have so much fun, thanks to the animation and the special initiatives aimed at children that are commonplace on the beach and in the hotels that have made family tourism their flagship in Bellaria Igea Marina.
If you want to treat yourself to a relaxing alternative to the beach, you can take a bike ride through Parco del Gelso, known as the city's green lung, or through the pedestrian island in the centre, known as Isola dei Platani.
9. Agropoli in Campania
Agropoli is one of the locations in the UNESCO Heritage site of Parco Nazionale del Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni. Its historic centre comes from the Middle Age and has an Aragon Castle too, which is the entry point of the countless beauties of this land.
In Agropoli and every part of Cilento, there are free and equipped beaches with bars, ice-cream shops and other services. Its beaches are perfect for kids because they are large, have fine sand and shallow water. The sea is spectacular and still this year, Cilento was awarded 14 Blue Flags.
If you are curious about its local food and, in particular, have the opportunity to enjoy it differently, you must go to the Rareche rural market. Here you will find the products of the local natural and sustainable agriculture. It is open every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Palazzo Della Cultura di Vallo Della Lucania.
