Lake Miseno is a lake in the municipality of Bacoli, between Monte di Procida and Capo Miseno. The lake is separated from the sea by a sandy barrier about 200 metres wide and is connected to it by two mouths. The lake owes its name to the trumpeter of the Roman army, Miseno. Legend has it that Misenus drowned in those waters, and Aeneas buried him under a large mound of earth. Even today the promontory near the lake is called Capo Miseno Promontory, in memory of this legend. 

Also, for Lake Miseno, there are many connections with Roman times when the lake was divided into two parts: the lakeside was used as a shipyard, and the seaside was the port. 

Lake Lucrino is a natural basin located in the Phlegraean Fields area, formed after the creation of an isthmus separating it from the sea. The name Lucrino comes from the Latin 'lucrum', gain, and is associated with the fact that the lake was home to oyster and fish farms as early as 90 BC. Lake Lucrino has undergone many changes during its long history and was the protagonist of many events in Roman times. In the area surrounding Lake Lucrino, many Roman villas belonging to illustrious nobles of the time were built.
