Ischia, the largest of the three islands in the Gulf of Naples, is a perfect natural setting if you are looking for a journey of pure relaxation that has spas as its destination.
Among the many establishments on the island, the right choice for you might be to stop at the Poseidon Gardens composed of a complex of pools (as many as 20!) where the water always maintains high temperatures (ranging from 28° to 40°) and is endowed with healing properties.
The location of the Poseidon Gardens will win you over effortlessly: in fact, it overlooks the beautiful Citara Bay, with direct access to a private beach.
Giardini Poseidon Terme presents a wide variety of choices to please all types of audiences. If you love sports, there are seawater pools dedicated to you, or various wellness paths such as the “Kneipp” pools, which are useful for the circulatory system and involve alternating baths at a temperature of 40°/15°, or the Japanese bath, where you can walk on pebble paths, again with the aim of reactivating circulation. There is also a Health and Wellness Center for those who want personalized healing and relaxation paths. As many as three restaurants close the offer: the Poseidon Spa lacks nothing at all!
The Gardens were created in 1959 by German physician Gernot Walde, with management from the outset designed with efficiency in mind, so that patrons could devote themselves exclusively to relaxation, without worrying about anything else.
Poseidon Terme Gardens is not open all year round. Usually, the period when you can immerse yourself in its magical atmosphere is from April to October.
The ticket price also changes depending on the period: in low season (Apr/May/Oct) the entrance price is 41 euros, in high season (Jun/Jul/Sept) it costs 43 euros per person, and in very high season (Aug) it goes up to 48 euros.
In order to take advantage of the fantastic services of the Poseidon Gardens, you must of course first reach the island of Ischia.
Starting from Naples, you can use either the ferries (which leave from Calata Porta di Massa) or the hydrofoils that leave from the port of Molo Beverello. Hydrofoils are faster but more expensive, so you have to make a choice between halving the time or the cost.
Hydrofoils take about an hour to reach Ischia, while ferries take at least an hour and a half. Although slower, however, ferries are generally larger and therefore more convenient for those with more luggage. Tickets can be purchased directly at the physical ticket offices at the port, but during busy periods it is advisable to book them in advance online.
Schedules also change depending on the season (and especially weather conditions). Daily runs are constantly updated and can be found on the companies' websites or at the ticket offices themselves.
Once landed in Ischia, there are several ways to reach the Poseidon Gardens.
By car it is easy to get there, following the signs to Forio and then to Baia di Citara Near the entrance there is a paid parking lot. Another good option could be a cab, which takes between 20 and 30 minutes from the port to reach the Gardens.
By bus, from Ischia Porto there is line 2 that goes to Casamicciola Terme, Lacco Ameno and Forio and to the bay of Citara. The stop is called, precisely, Citara-Giardini Poseidon and is very close to the Park.

If, however, you do not have a lot of time and are geared toward a “watery” vacation between spas and relaxation, then after spending a wonderful day at the Poseidon Gardens, you might consider stopping at Negombo, in the municipality of Lacco Ameno.
