The Museum of Illusions is in Rome, exactly in Via Merulana 17, a stone's throw from the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and not far from Termini Station. Visiting this museum is a fun experience that will allow you to spend a moment of leisure, here you will find over 70 illusions to interact with and what you previously thought was only possible in dreams will now become reality. Test your mind! 

Among the various installations present we find the Vortex, a tunnel in which you will feel like losing your balance, the Beuchet chair, to return small as a child, the infinite well, will you be able to cross it? In the museum of illusions, you can discover the power of visual suggestions, completely disconnect from your tourist visit and experience something different, alone, together with friends or with your family.

Useful information for visiting the Museum of Illusions

Opening hours: The Museum of Illusions is open every day from Monday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 20:00, last admission at 19:00. 

Accessibility: The museum is accessible to everyone. Only 3 rooms, out of about 70, are not recommended for people with reduced mobility, problems related to epilepsy or balance: Vortex tunnel, Inclined Room and Ames Room. During the tour it is possible to choose not to access and connect beyond these rooms. Animals are allowed to access the museum if they are small breeds. 

Tickets, costs and reservations: The price of the ticket is 18 euros, but there is a convenient family option and reductions depending on age. Online booking is always advisable also to facilitate the organization of your trip. We point out that during the week tickets can also be purchased on site, while during the weekend’s tickets can only be purchased by booking online. 




How to get to the Museum of Illusions

The Museum of Illusions is in Via Merulana, 17, in the heart of Rome, in a limited traffic area, it is easily reachable by public transport and also by private car, taking into account the ZTL timetables. 

Underground: The closest metro stops are Termini (Line A and B) and Vittorio Emanuele stop (Line A). 

Bus: Various bus stops nearby, we point out Lines 70, 71, 60,64, 40, 170, 85

On foot: from Termini station you can reach this museum with a pleasant 10-minute walk. 

Bicycles and electric scooters: practical options thanks to the numerous cycle paths in the center. 

Car: the area is a limited traffic ZTL with difficult and paid parking. We suggest you check the ZTL timetables.

How long is the visit? The visit lasts approximately one hour. 

From what age can children access the Museum? The Museum is designed for people of all ages, however, to fully enjoy this attraction, the recommended age is 6 years and older. 

Can you take photos inside the museum? Yes, in fact we strongly recommend that you bring your camera. 

Is there a refreshment area inside? There is no refreshment area inside, but the area where the museum is located is well served by refreshment activities just a few minutes away.
