This toponym refers to an area within the territory of the pretty village of Ponzano di Fermo along the banks of the Ete Vivo River. According to local tales, some women from the hamlet witnessed prodigious apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1921. She would have appeared on a wood pile on a farm owned by the confraternity of the Holy Sacrament.
News of this miraculous event spread quickly, drawing believers from nearby communities who gathered in processions. Inspired by the accurate descriptions given by some of the sorcerers, they decided to build a Marian shrine in the same year. However, the construction was halted due to the intervention of the Ecclesiastical Authorities.
